Realtor Uses Video to Showcase Local Lifestyle and Build SEO

Realtor Rudy Mayer has created a video series called a “Slice of Life in New Hampshire”, featuring high definition videos which showcase what it is like to live in his market area of Southern New Hampshire.  It is a great series, housed in a custom branded YouTube channel which drives traffic back to his real estate website www.RudyMayer.com.  He also features one of the videos from his YouTube channel on his website under the headline “Southern New Hampshire – A Great Place to Live”.

There are several noteworthy points about Rudy’s use of video:

  • The content of his videos is consumer friendly and informative.  The video’s DON’T focus on selling Rudy.  They DO focus on educating about the area and showcasing what the communities and towns he sells are.  The video’s paint a picture of life in his region and only at the end, remind you that they were brought to you by Realtor.  When you watch the video’s, you don’t feel like he is selling something.  You feel like he is informed and proud of his market and that Southern New Hampshire is a great place to live.  Some of the videos include:

  • The videos are professionally shot and produced in high-definition.  They have graceful editing, narration and music.
  • He includes a testimonial video where 3 of his clients speak about their positive experience with him.
  • The videos are brief (generally between 3-4 minutes)
  • The videos are great for his search engine optimization as a result of several choices he has made (disclaimer – Agent Applause is not an SEO authority, but Rand Fishkin is and his SEOMoz video explaining SEO for Video Content indicates that Rudy is doing lots of stuff right for his SEO) including:
    • Hosting the videos on a reputable 3rd party site (You Tube) which helps his videos to gain maximum viewership and visibility and channel that interest back to his business website.
    • Providing detailed, keyword rich ad copy or transcription with each of his videos.  Video is not searchable by search engines.  Rudy has provided high quality transcriptions/descriptions of his video content which assists his SEO.
    • Using keywords in his video titles. “New Hampshire” appears in each of Rudy’s video titles.

We applaud Rudy Mayer for his use of video.  We think he is a great example for Realtors to look at when they are interested in adding video to their marketing mix.

Video breathes life into stills…at 30 frames per second of motion, and hopefully sound caught at the property or local event. Video catches the eye of the surfer when it comes up in search engine results. It is neat to see the small video monitor embed on a first page search and watch the views rack up as it takes speed. Good post on the power of five sense real video where the audio is 40% of the video and helps leave a deeper, lasting, more efficient impression. Video does its job so well.

Just a pity he used his own name for his domain name – missed a good SEO opportunity right there. Otherwise a great site!

Petertoner: Having your name as a domain doesn't necessarily hurt your SEO. Search Google for “Nashua New Hampshire real estate” or any other town Rudy works in, and his site is usually #1 or in the top 5. Has been for a decade. It's one of the top rated real estate sites in the area – consistently.

Domain names have little to do with SEO.
