Realtor Mobile Optimized Website = On-The-Go Information For Consumers

Have you thought about what your real estate website or blog looks like on an iPhone or a Blackberry?
John McMonigle, a Realtor based in Newport Beach, California has.  When viewing from your computer, McMonigleGroup.com is a beautiful site with rich functionality, including scrolling photos and features designed to engage the customer.  The design of the site makes sense when accessed from a computer.  It doesn’t make sense when accessing the site from a mobile phone where:

  1. Screens are small
  2. Internet connections are slower
  3. Browser functionality is more limited that on the computer

The three elements can make the best intended website designs totally useless when accessed from a mobile device.

The McMonigle Group doesn’t have this problem as its website has been redesigned and optimized for rendering specifically on mobile devices.  The visual design is reorganized to fit the small screen mobile environment.  And, in terms of site functionality, it has been stripped down from all the bells and whistles you get the full website.  The mobile site gives people the most likely features they would need to access from their mobile device.…like the ability to call them.  On the mobile site, there is a “Call Us” button at the top of every page – no need to type a number in from your phone.  The mobile site also makes the most of the geotagging functionality of devices such as the iphone to default the property search to a radius around wherever the mobile consumer is at that moment.

It is a attractive mobile site and certainly an example of modern real estate marketing worthy of applause.  Check it out from your phone.

I have been hunting for an agent for my own search lately, and have run into these very problems, specifically not being able to see complete contact info on my iphone. I hope to find such a well designed site in my new area.

Thanks for your comment. It is a great reminder that the reason this type of investment should be made is because there is value to the consumer. And, a lesson for all is even if you don't make the level of design investment the McMonigle Group has in your mobile site, make certain that your contact information is visible from you mobile website!

It’s really cool apps, some of the apps are having the same features but the most I like is the realtor apps one. There are lots of improvements every year with the apps. This can toggle the gps on and off and having complete information.

It’s amazing that some realtors don’t see the value in a mobile optimized website.
